As an experienced Dalhousie Castle photographer, I was honoured to shoot Mya and Sky’s Chinese wedding.
This beautiful and historic Scottish wedding venue is a few miles south of Edinburgh.
Situated on its private grounds, Dalhousie Castle is the perfect venue for shooting wedding photos.
There is lots of interior space for wedding photos when the weather isn’t great.
Dalhousie Castle also has beautiful grounds to take advantage of when the weather allows.

I want to share a few of my favourite photos from my day as Mya and Sky’s Dalhousie Castle wedding photographer.
My coverage of Mya and Sky’s wedding day at Dalhousie Castle started early in the morning, covering both preparations in the west of Edinburgh.
We’d just had three weeks of the perfect sunshine.
Unfortunately, by the time I arrived with Mya and Sky, the weather had changed, and we found ourselves amid a massive thunderstorm!
No worries, it was still early, and there was enough time, fingers crossed, for the weather to improve later in the day.
Both Mya and Sky were born in Hong Kong.
Seeing Sky and Mya’s father choose to wear kilt outfits was great. They both looked fabulous.
Sky was relaxed and looking forward to marrying his beautiful bride.
Mya looked stunning in her gorgeous bespoke wedding dress.
Dalhousie Castle wedding ceremonies are held in the castle’s very own chapel.
A highlight of many Dalhousie Castle weddings is when one of the castle’s birds of prey delivers the rings to the best man.
Today, the rings were delivered by a beautiful owl.
I love capturing photos of this moment, as the expressions on people’s faces and the owl swooping into the best man’s gloved hand are priceless.
The wedding ceremony continues with a little reward of a bit of food for the owl.
It was great fun and a highlight of the day for everyone.
Shooting today’s wedding photos at Dalhousie Castle after the ceremony slightly differed from a typical wedding.
Usually, I shoot a few group photos followed by some time spent with the new Mr and Mrs.
On a typical wedding day at Dalhousie Castle, the newlyweds spend around 30 minutes and rarely more than an hour together.
Apparently, in Hong Kong, the newly-wed photoshoot is a huge thing, so for their wedding, Mya and Sky ensured we had lots of time to spend shooting pictures of just the two of them.
This was great; most of the afternoon was spent shooting beautiful newlywed photos.
As a bonus, the weather had improved enough to allow us to walk around the grounds of Dalhousie Castle.
I enjoyed having an extended shoot with Mya and Sky.
They were relaxed and fun, and we laughed well together.
Mya changed from her wedding dress into a beautiful red traditional Chinese wedding gown.
This looked amazing against the green backdrop of Dalhousie Castle’s gardens, and some of my favourite photos were of Mya and Sky in the field to the back of Dalhousie Castle.
My time taking photos of this beautiful wedding day at Dalhousie Castle ended in the early evening when Mya and Sky departed for their Chinese banquet in Glasgow.
This was a beautiful wedding day in every sense, and I enjoyed the mix of Scottish and Chinese wedding elements.
It was a truly unique and memorable day!
