It was my pleasure to be shooting Caroline and Tom’s Oxenfoord Castle wedding photos. Oxenfoord Castle is an exquisite setting for any wedding. Accessed via a long private road and located within acres of parkland and forest near the village of Pathhead, Midlothian, Oxenfoord Castle is still a family home, made available for use as a unique wedding venue.
Caroline and Tom told me they loved the location and privacy offered by Oxenfoord Castle. I arrived a couple of hours before the wedding ceremony to have a good look around and choose a few locations for us to do the newly-wed photos after the wedding ceremony.
The skies were quite dark and getting darker when I arrived, I had my fingers crossed it wouldn’t rain later in the day.
Caroline looked beautiful as she made her way down the staircase, wearing a gorgeous Rosetta Nicolini wedding dress from Berketex Bride.
Tom looked relaxed as Caroline was escorted up the aisle on her father’s arm. The wedding ceremony took place in Oxenfoord Castle’s beautiful Drawing Room. This room is beautifully lit, with dual aspect floor to ceiling windows allowing light to flood in. Perfect for wedding photography, even though the skies were quite dark I was able to use the natural light and shoot the wedding ceremony photos without the use of flash.
Unfortunately, the heavens opened as soon as the newlyweds made their way back up the aisle. It was pouring down! Fortunately, Oxenfoord Castle has plenty of space to allow the guests to mingle and enjoy their Pimms and canapés.
I spent around 15 minutes capturing photos of family and friends congratulation the newly-weds, then set up a couple of studio flashes to enable me to shoot the group photos back in the drawing-room.
Right on cue, the rain stopped just as we finished shooting the group photos. I was so happy at this, as the grounds at Oxenfoord Castle are wonderful. With lots of greenery and amazing arched bridge to use in the photos, we were spoiled for choice. Caroline and Tom were really good fun to photograph. I’m really pleased with the results, I loved capturing a good mix of posed and natural photos of the newly-weds.
We finished the formal photoshoot with a group photo of everyone on the lawn of Oxenfoord Castle.
My day with Caroline and Tom finished with a mock cutting of the most exquisite chocolate cake I’ve ever seen, followed by the Piper’s toast to the newly-weds.
Congratulations to Caroline and Tom, I can’t wait to design a luxury wedding album for you guys!
