We got a video of the ceremony, speeches and first 3 dances which Jonathon was able to do himself with cameras set up and it was amazing to see after. Jonathon recently photographed our wedding and we couldn't be happier with the results. Our families were also extremely pleased and have been creating montages and framing the photos. Jonathon put us at ease and was professional and friendly and created lots of shots in such a short space of time. The communication before hand and after was great especially as there was last minute changes to our wedding. I would definitely recommend. Many thanks.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are the best Edinburgh wedding venues?

Edinburgh is packed with dreamy venues—from grand castles like Dundas to quirky spots like The Caves under South Bridge or the stylish Assembly Rooms. Whether you’re after old‑world charm or city-centre cool, the best venue is the one that tells your love story.

How much do weddings in Edinburgh cost?

Prices range wildly—budget-friendly hotel weddings start around £1,200–£2,500, while fairytale venue hire (like Dundas Castle or Hopetoun House) can soar into the high £15k–20k range. Nearly every venue offers seasonal deals or bundled extras, so pro tip: ask about winter/off‑peak perks!

Can you hire exclusive‑use wedding venues in Edinburgh?

You sure can! Venues such as Mansfield Traquair, Signet Library and Carlowrie Castle offer full control—it’s like having your own private kingdom for the day (and night). Handy if you want your guests wandering only where you allow—and love that alone‑together moment.

Do Edinburgh venues offer accommodation on‑site?

Absolutely—spots like The Balmoral, The Scotsman Hotel and Caledonian Edinburgh have rooms on the premises. They often offer wedding-night discounts for guests and suites for the newlyweds. Convenience and zero taxis.

Are there outdoor ceremony options in Edinburgh?

You bet. Think sunlit gardens at Prestonfield House and Carlowrie Castle, or the sleek rooftop terrace at The Glasshouse. Most venues also have backup plans, including marquees or indoor rooms, in case of Scottish weather surprises.

Can we bring our own caterer or alcohol?

It depends on the venue. Traditional hotels typically have in‑house catering (often customisable), while unique hire venues like The Caves or The Assembly Rooms may let you bring in caterers or do a corkage option. Always check their policy and tasting options before you book.

Do Edinburgh venues accommodate cultural or religious weddings?

Edinburgh’s wedding scene is a wonderland of gorgeous venues, whether you’re chasing castle drama, underground cool, or cosy hotel vibes. Your perfect pick will reflect your personal style, guest list size, budget and that all-important “wow” factor. And between exclusive-use gems, on-site stays, outdoor charm, and flexible catering, there’s a dream slot for every kind of couple. Most venues are incredibly keen to accommodate your requirements; all you need to do is ask. If they cannot fulfil your request, please contact the next venue. There is a perfect wedding venue in Edinburgh for every couple!
