The story so far
Katia and Roy needed a wedding photographer at The Hub in Edinburgh, so we were delighted they asked us to come and photograph their Mexican-Scottish wedding reception. This was one of those days where everything came together to make a wonderful and memorable occasion.
Mexican Katia and Scotsman Roy tied the knot a year ago in Mexico. The couple chose The Hub, “home of the Edinburgh International Festival”, an iconic landmark on the Edinburgh skyline as the perfect venue to host such a fabulous wedding reception to celebrate their marriage with all their family and friends.
Reception at The Hub
It’s safe to say the Mexicans and the Scots know how to party! It was such a gorgeous sunny day in Edinburgh city centre. A great atmosphere, with all the hustle, bustle and excitement of tourists and people out and about viewing Edinburgh’s Royal Mile World Heritage architecture. The Hub was the most perfect venue for this upbeat wedding celebration. Located close to Edinburgh Castle and right in the heart of Edinburgh’s historic Old Town gave Katia and Roy’s memorable wedding reception a certain edge and a real buzz of excitement.
The day started taking candid shots of guests arriving at the venue. Katia looked sensational in a high low floral dress and Roy looking very dapper in his kilt. Guests dressed in their finery and most definitely dressed to impress. All the ladies looking jaw-droppingly beautiful in such amazing outfits, statement jewellery and killer heels. The gents in suits and full traditional Scottish kilt outfits.
Delicious canapes were served and champagne flowed in the Cafe Hub as guests relaxed and mingled and children played. The air was filled with chatting, laughter and gorgeous background music – all adding to the perfect ambience as the day unfolded. Meticulous planning and preparation paid off as the day went without fault and had such a happy and relaxed feel.
Speeches and dancing in the Main Hall
After group photographs taken on the grand staircase, the wedding party moved into The Main Hall for heartfelt speeches and delicious wedding breakfast. The Main Hall looked absolutely stunning. Tables named after some of Scotland’s most famous whiskies, beautiful dried flowers which included Scottish Thistle filled empty whisky bottles. Katia and Roy certainly pulled out all the stops as there was so much attention to detail with little nods to both Katia’s and Roy’s nationalities throughout their special day. Tunnocks tea cakes, sweet treats from Mexico, a Piper and ceilidh dancing into the early hours made our role as the wedding photographer at The Hub so memorable.
Congratulations Katia and Roy!
