We literally went ‘Back To The Future’ when Marielle and Graham invited us to be their Dunglass Estate wedding videographer.
Dunglass Estate is a historic wedding venue located in the East of Scotland, offering privacy and luxury in a beautiful and romantic setting.
It was a wet, dreary day, however, spirits were high and certainly not dampened by the weather as the excitement for Marielle and Graham’s marriage nuptials grew.
Marielle and Graham’s wedding was a day filled with excitement and surprises, love and laughter, a day full of fun with a fabulous crowd of people.
Straying just a little from wedding tradition, Marielle and Graham’s wedding reflected their personalities and a few of their favourite things;
- a DeLorean car and hoverboard (as seen in the ‘Back To The Future’ movies)
- Doctor Who’s Tardis
- a full-sized Dalek!
Arriving at Dunglass House, there was such a warm welcome from Marielle and her family. Such a lovely friendly bunch, it made for a super relaxed morning with a great atmosphere, the perfect start to Marielle and Graham’s big day.
With hair and makeup in full swing, the girls enjoyed fizz, a few nibbles and a whole lot of laughs as I captured candid shots for the wedding film.
Jonathon filmed our groom Graham and his best man in the nearby Groomsman Cottage on Dunglass Estate. The boys then made their way to greet friends and family gathered in Dunglass Church, a 15th-century semi-ruined building located on the private estate.
Marielle and Graham had a wonderfully personable Humanist ceremony led by Graham’s brother, Andy. Marielle’s brothers and sister gave beautiful readings that were both loving and heartfelt.
The church was filled with laughter, love and happiness as our delightful bride and groom exchanged their marriage vows and wedding rings.
Marielle and Graham promised each new adventures, and to never going to bed on an argument. It was love and a commitment between best friends, lovers, soul mates.
The piper played in celebration as our newlyweds walked through their ‘bubble tunnel’, a real crowd-pleaser as guests showered our happy couple with their congratulations.
In the marquee, candelabras flickered, adding to the romantic ambience. Guests mingled, enjoying cocktails served in teacups and Dusty The Magician provided entertainment to the guests.
We filmed the reactions and laughter as guests enjoyed amusing and touching speeches from Marielle’s Dad and Graham. There was a S.W.O.T analysis from Graham’s best man, complete with PowerPoint presentation!
Finally, we got the answer to ‘why is there a full-sized Tardis in the marquee?’ The story goes Graham asked Marielle what she would like for her 30th birthday. The answer? She wanted a time-travelling machine, of course! So Graham built her one. And it’s totally awesome! We especially liked the idea of it being used as a bar in their garden. And the DeLorean? Well, that was a surprise gift from Marielle to Graham.
Then our beautiful bride Marielle said a few words and said happy birthday to her little cousin, who was sharing his 13th birthday to be with them today.
Our day filming drew to a close with coverage of cutting the beautiful wedding cake (topped with a Tardis!) and the first few dances. It was a perfect ending to such a fantastic day.
