I was honoured to be asked by Francesca and Damian to be their George Hotel wedding photographer. The George Hotel is a fabulous wedding venue located right in the heart of Edinburgh city centre.
Francesca looked truly beautiful. ‘Like a wee doll’, she later told me some guests had commented!
Civil Wedding Ceremony
My day started by taking lots of photos of guests as they arrived at The George Hotel. As you probably know, The George Hotel is a wedding venue on one of Edinburgh’s busiest streets, George Street. So being armed with a couple of professional series Canon cameras, lenses and flashes did feel like being part of the paparazzi. There was plenty of shoppers keen to see what was going on!
Newlywed Photos in Queen Street Gardens
After the civil ceremony in the exquisite Kings Hall, there was time for everyone to relax with a glass of champagne and a few canapés. Then the newly-weds, Bridesmaid and Best Man headed down to the nearby Queen Street Gardens. There we took advantage of the fair weather and captured some gorgeous newly-wed photos.
Having been driven to the gardens, Francesca and Damian agreed to walk back to The George Hotel. I’m pleased the newly-weds agreed to this, allowing me to capture some natural ‘street photos’ of the couple. I wanted to take a picture of the Newly-weds on Queen Street (that’s literally ON Queen Street!). Francesca and Damian were happy to accommodate my request. So, timing the shot perfectly with the traffic lights, I captured one of my favourite wedding photos of the day.
The rest of this fabulous wedding day was at The George Hotel. I covered the event up until the end of the third dance. Fantastic band Callanish provided the evening entertainment. Francesca’s brother Antonio was playing the drums (and very well, too!).
What a fun wedding day to photograph at the George Hotel. Francesca and Damian are such a warm and friendly couple who made my role very easy.
