As experienced Scotsman Hotel wedding videographers, we find the stunning views and the building’s history make filming weddings here a joy. Without a doubt, it’s the energy of the couples who choose this iconic venue that really makes the day special.
Cinematic Wedding Films at Edinburgh’s Most Iconic Landmarks
There is something so special about filming a wedding right in the heart of Edinburgh.
When Ailsa and Adam first told us they were getting married at The Scotsman Hotel, we knew we were in for a brilliant day.
We’ve experience of filming weddings at all of Edinburgh’s most iconic venues.
Why We Love Filming at The Scotsman Hotel
For us, filming at The Scotsman Hotel is a dream because the building itself plays a starring role in your wedding film.
We are constantly inspired by the venue’s incredible architecture, from the dramatic sweep of the famous marble staircase—perfect for capturing a grand entrance or elegant couple portraits—to the timeless, historic character of the Grand Café.
But it’s not just the interiors that make this location special; the connection to the city is unmatched. We love capturing cinematic establishing shots of the bustling North Bridge and the iconic Calton Hill skyline in the background.
These stunning visual elements allow us to anchor your love story right in the heart of historic Edinburgh, giving your wedding video a truly majestic sense of place.

Real Wedding Example: Ailsa & Adam’s Celebration in Cinematic 4K
We’ve created a short, documentary-style, cinematic, 4K highlights edit that we think captures the romance, elegance, love, and fun of Ailsa and Adam’s sensational day in Edinburgh.
Ailsa and Adam are a couple who radiate warmth. Their wedding was the perfect reflection of that – elegant, sure, but mostly just a massive, joyful celebration of their love with their favourite people.
Wait for the drone footage of Edinburgh Old Town. The views of The Scotsman Hotel and Old Town architecture look incredible, and be sure to watch Ailsa and Adam’s end-of-aisle kiss and confetti shower to give you all those gorgeous newlywed feels!
Love our Scotsman Hotel wedding video?
Pre-ceremony
The atmosphere during the bridal preparations before the ceremony was grand; the girls were relaxed from the start.
Making our way to the city centre, we loved flying the drone on to capture a sense of scale and to ‘set the scene’. Seeing The Scotsman Hotel from the air, nestled right in the heart of the historic Old Town, really puts into perspective how stunning this city is.
Guests gathered in The Press Bar for pre-ceremony drinks. It’s such a cool, moody spot for everyone to catch up before the main event.
Once everyone moved into the Garden Suite, there was a strong buzz as excitement built. Adam looked incredibly dapper in a classic tux and bow tie, and you could see the nerves and excitement kicking in as he waited for Ailsa.
The Garden Suite Ceremony
The Humanist ceremony itself was beautiful, but the absolute highlight for us was the end-of-the-aisle kiss and confetti shower! A gentle kiss under a massive cloud of confetti was such a fun, high-energy moment to capture on video.
Couple Shoots on Victoria Street & The Old Town
For the newlywed shots, we took a wander through some of Edinburgh’s most famous spots.
The colourful curve of Victoria Street provided the perfect backdrop, and there’s something so timeless about the stone archways near St Giles’ Cathedral.
There’s nothing quite like the buzz of the city mixed with that ‘just married’ high.
It wasn’t about being overly formal or posing for the camera; we just let Ailsa and Adam do their thing and soak up the joy that they’d finally tied the knot.

Party In The Fettercairn Suite
The reception in the Fettercairn Suite was a highlight, featuring heartfelt and hilarious speeches, amazing food, and a dance floor packed from the very first song. What a great setting in which to end coverage of such a fun day!
Our Approach to Filming at The Scotsman
Mastering the Logistics & Lighting of The Scotsman. Filming a seamless wedding video at The Scotsman Hotel requires more than just a camera; it requires intimate knowledge of the venue’s unique layout and schedule.
We work closely with venue coordinators throughout the day, ensuring we are always in the correct position to capture those split-second moments without getting in the way.
This experience is particularly vital for your evening reception in the Fettercairn Suite. Since this room has no natural light, it can be a challenge for some Scotsman Hotel wedding videographers.
However, we refuse to kill the party atmosphere by installing blinding, intrusive spotlights (sadly, an all-too-frequent occurrence with some videographers). Instead, we utilise high-end cinema cameras and lenses with exceptional low-light capabilities. This allows us to embrace the room’s genuine, ambient lighting—ensuring your film looks exactly how the night felt: warm, romantic, and completely natural.

Scotsman Hotel Wedding Video Packages & Pricing
We believe in keeping things simple and transparent. To help you plan the perfect coverage for your day, you can view our detailed wedding video prices and package options here.
For the most cohesive experience, we highly recommend our combined photography and videography package. This option sees us, Claire and Jonathon, working together as a seamless team. As a husband-and-wife duo, we work intuitively around each other, ensuring there is no competition for angles or “clutter” during your ceremony. This coordinated approach guarantees a relaxed atmosphere and a consistent visual style across both your photos and film at The Scotsman.
