What a great time I had recently shooting Joanne and Alan’s The Glasshouse wedding photos.
The Glasshouse is a boutique hotel located in Edinburgh city centre and was the perfect setting for Joanne and Alan’s elopement to Edinburgh.
I’ve previously photographed weddings at The Glasshouse Hotel.
If the weather were sunny, the ceremony and photoshoot would have occurred outside on the roof garden, but as it was a bit of a rainy day, it was decided to play it safe and hold the ceremony indoors.

The Glasshouse wedding photos
Below are a few of my favourite photos of Alan and Joanne’s wedding at The Glasshouse Hotel in Edinburgh.
Being an experienced photographer shooting The Glasshouse wedding photos is pure joy.
This unique venue is a dream backdrop for wedding photography, offering a magical blend of modern design, historic charm, and breathtaking views.
Located in the city’s heart, The Glasshouse is a photographer’s playground, where every corner offers an opportunity to create stunning images.
The venue’s signature feature, its two-acre rooftop garden, is spectacular.
Imagine photographing a couple surrounded by lush greenery, with Edinburgh’s iconic skyline and Calton Hill as their backdrop.
It’s a setting that combines natural beauty with urban sophistication, perfect for capturing romantic moments.
The soft light that floods the garden, especially during golden hour, creates a warm, ethereal glow, adding extra magic to every shot.
Inside, The Glasshouse boasts sleek, contemporary interiors paired with historic touches, like the restored façade of the 19th-century Lady Glenorchy Church.
The floor-to-ceiling windows flood spaces with natural light, creating bright, airy conditions for indoor photos.
These design elements create a perfect contrast, allowing couples to shine in modern elegance while celebrating their timeless love.
What truly makes shooting The Glasshouse wedding photos special is its intimacy and exclusivity.
Couples can enjoy private spaces, allowing emotional, authentic moments to unfold naturally.
From the quiet joy of pre-ceremony preparations to the first look under the open sky, every moment feels like it belongs in a storybook.
As an experienced photographer, you learn to spot and capture these fleeting moments, and The Glasshouse delivers them in abundance.
The joy of working here lies in its versatility and beauty—no two weddings look alike, yet every single one feels magical.
For couples seeking breathtaking wedding photos, The Glasshouse is a venue where memories and masterpieces are effortlessly created.
Unfortunately, we had torrential rain for Joanne and Alan’s wedding day.
No worries. The interior of The Glasshouse has an intimate and modern feel, which is wonderful for creating photos.
Joanne and Alan were married in a lovely personal Humanist wedding ceremony.
I loved how Joanne and Alan met and decided to get married in Scotland.
This was a relaxed ceremony, which was a pleasure to photograph.
I love the intimate bar area within The Glasshouse Hotel.
Its open-flame fire makes it a great place to sit and enjoy a wee dram or two.
Also, it’s a relaxing place for a few newlywed photos!
I also loved the staircase and upper landing area.
The window in some of the photos is part of the original fascia of the building, which was retained and integrated with the modern glass and steel building that makes up the rest of the hotel.
As you can see in these The Glasshouse wedding photos, even if it is raining on your wedding day, with the right photographer, you can rest assured you will still be able to shoot some great photos.

The Glasshouse was a great place to be, a lovely private and tranquil setting right in the middle of a busy city centre.
Congratulations to Joanne and Alan.
I thoroughly enjoyed photographing your wedding day and look forward to designing a beautiful wedding album for you.
I look forward to returning to photograph a wedding at The Glasshouse again very soon.
