I was delighted to be invited to be Jon and Mandy’s Surgeons’ Hall wedding photographer.

They were married at the historic Surgeons’ Hall, a fabulous wedding venue steeped in history in Edinburgh’s city centre.

Surgeons’ Hall is one of the grandest Edinburgh wedding venues where we’ve been fortunate to photograph weddings.

It’s a great wedding venue with impressive architecture and offers total privacy for your wedding day.

No matter what the weather does on your wedding day, we can still shoot award‑winning wedding images, as this gorgeous setting offers a beautiful range of backdrops for your wedding photos.

Surgeons’ Hall Wedding Photographer Feedback

Allow us to be your Surgeons’ Hall wedding photographers and receive great photos and outstanding customer service as standard. But please don’t just take our word for it:

Jonathon and Claire are the loviest couple.. from our very first communication they made us feel special and were so interested in who we are as people! They tailored everything just for us, and had they not radiated such beauty and kindness, we wouldn’t have even known they were there… and for two people like us who HATE getting photos taken, we had a great time and felt so comfortable!

We got married on 31st December, and they gave up their own celebrations with their families to help us capture ours...

We truly hit the jackpot, and wouldn’t ever trust anyone else to capture our special celebrations and moments!

Please don’t pass up the opportunity on having these two look after your special day! Very trustworthy and fantastic value for money.

Surgeons’ Hall Wedding Photos

Below is a selection of our favourite photos from Jon and Mandy’s wedding at Surgeons’ Hall.

Founded in 1505, Surgeons’ Hall is officially known as the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, also known as Surgeons’ Quarter.

It contains a museum with interesting exhibits, including various surgical instruments and human tissue examples (including skulls!).

It is home to one of the world’s largest and most historic collections of surgical pathology. I’ve visited the museum with my family, and we found it fascinating.

Surgeons’ Hall in Edinburgh is a truly magical wedding venue. Its unique combination of grandeur, history, and charm makes it a joy to create stunning wedding photos.

Nestled in the city’s heart, this iconic building provides a breathtaking backdrop at every turn, from its magnificent Georgian architecture to its elegant interiors.

The venue’s exterior is a photographer’s dream. Its stately columns and intricate stonework create timeless, dramatic Surgeons’ Hall wedding photos.

Whether it’s a romantic shot of the couple framed by the grand entrance or a candid moment beneath the evening city lights, every photo infuses elegance and character.

Inside, the Surgeons’ Hall is equally enchanting.

The grand rooms, adorned with chandeliers, ornate ceilings, and period details, radiate sophistication and provide a beautiful setting for capturing intimate moments.

With its stunning skylight and rich woodwork, the Playfair Hall bathes the space in natural light, perfect for airy, glowing photos.

Meanwhile, the grand staircase offers a regal setting for unforgettable portraits.

What makes Surgeons’ Hall even more magical is its versatility. Whether a small, intimate ceremony or a large, lavish celebration, the venue’s spaces can be tailored to reflect each couple’s vision.

This allows photographers to create personalised, storytelling images that capture the essence of the day.

The vibrant energy of a wedding adds to the joy of creating Surgeons’ Hall wedding photos.

Each photo effortlessly combines the laughter of guests, the romance of the couple, and the lively atmosphere, creating a gallery that vividly tells a love story.

From its historic elegance to its photogenic charm, Surgeons’ Hall is a truly magical venue that inspires creativity and ensures couples walk away with photos as unforgettable as their wedding day.

Comprehensive coverage of Mandy and Jon’s wedding day meant an early start photographing the latter stage of the bridal party preparations before heading across to the wedding venue.

It was great to see one of my favourite pipers, Jim Nicholl, awaiting guests and piping as they entered Surgeon’s Hall.

Groom Jon looked dapper in his kilt and was in good humour as he greeted guests. Jon and Mandy were married in a beautiful Humanist ceremony officiated by Juliet Wilson.

Signing the marriage schedule officially made our newlyweds’ marriage official, and family and friends cheered as our couple celebrated with a kiss!

Congratulations to Jon and Mandy. Their wedding day was wonderful, with many moments I’ll never forget. It’s been a pleasure being your Surgeons’ Hall wedding photographer!
