St Vincent’s Chapel Wedding Photos

Here are some of our favourite St Vincent’s Chapel wedding photos from this wonderful day.

The Story of The Day

Our day as St Vincent’s Chapel wedding photographer began at Augusta’s family home in the city centre, where the beautiful bride and her bridesmaids were getting ready for the big day.

There was a lovely, relaxed atmosphere as the ladies enjoyed being pampered by the hair and makeup stylists.

Groom Dan, looking smart in his kilt attire, was on hand to greet guests arriving at the church.

Under the guidance of Rev Bishop Strange, Augusta and Dan exchanged vows and were united in marriage in a beautifully moving church service filled with prayer and hymns.

As they left the church, we loved photographing a shower of soft confetti that fell on the newlyweds, and warm cheers of congratulations followed.

Afterwards, the happy couple were taken on their newlywed photoshoot, using the charming, picturesque backdrop of Circus Lane, a quaint cobbled lane characterised by its beautiful rows of mews houses, climbing ivy and carefully tended flower boxes.

Their love was profoundly evident. They were natural and laid-back in front of the camera, making it a delight to photograph those precious memories.

The Ghillie Dhu, a former church nestled in the heart of Edinburgh’s West End, is steeped in history and brimming with charm.

Built in the 19th century, this Grade B-listed building originally served as St. Thomas’ Episcopal Church.

Over time, it transformed into one of Edinburgh’s most sought-after venues, blending its historic roots with contemporary elegance.

The name “Ghillie Dhu” is inspired by a mythical Scottish woodland spirit, adding a whimsical touch to its story.

This magical venue retains its original features, including intricate stonework, vaulted ceilings, and stunning arched windows, which bathe the space in soft, natural light.

The Auditorium, with its towering beams and romantic candlelight, provides a dramatic yet intimate setting for wedding celebrations.

It’s a space that effortlessly combines grandeur with warmth, creating the perfect backdrop for unforgettable moments.

For photographers, a Ghillie Dhu wedding reception is a dream. Its historic architecture, paired with modern design elements, offers endless opportunities for unique and artistic shots.

The adjacent leafy gardens at Rutland Square, Princes Street and Edinburgh’s iconic cityscape add variety, making it ideal for capturing timeless portraits.

In summer, the venue truly shines, with its warm ambience complemented by long golden hours and soft evening light.

The Ghillie Dhu is more than a wedding venue—it’s a magical, storybook setting where your love story comes to life.

Speeches and cake-cutting celebrated an unforgettable reception at the Ghillie Dhu, a popular wedding venue in the city’s West End.

Laughter and joy filled the room, creating an uplifting atmosphere of palpable and contagious love and happiness.

Everyone danced the night away to the sounds of a live ceilidh band, the perfect ending to our day as St Vincent’s Chapel wedding photographer.

We’d love to hear from you if you need an experienced St Vincent’s Chapel wedding photographer!

  • wedding photographer at Dundas Castle: a couple wearing wedding attire gazes into each other's eyes and smiles, standing outdoors with a blurred natural background. The man wears a gray suit and green tie; the woman wears a white fur shoulder wrap.

We had a great time and felt so comfortable!

Jonathon and Claire are the loveliest couple… from our very first communication, they made us feel special and were so interested in who we are as people! They tailored everything just for us, and had they not radiated such beauty and kindness, we wouldn’t have even known they were there… and for two people like us who HATE getting photos taken, we had a great time and felt so comfortable!
We got married on 31st December, and they gave up their own celebrations with their families to help us capture ours…
We truly hit the jackpot, and wouldn’t ever trust anyone else to capture our special celebrations and moments!
Please don’t pass up the opportunity on having these two look after your special day! Very trustworthy and fantastic value for money.

St Vincent’s Chapel Wedding Photographer: Frequently Asked Questions

What makes St Vincent’s Chapel in Stockbridge such a unique location for wedding photos?

St Vincent’s is a hidden gem in Edinburgh’s New Town. As an experienced St. Vincent’s Chapel wedding photographer, I find that its intimate Gothic interior and stunning stained glass create a deeply atmospheric, “moody” aesthetic that you simply don’t find in larger cathedrals. The chapel’s position in the heart of Stockbridge means we can transition from a sacred ceremony to the quintessential Edinburgh’s most Instagrammable locations—like Circus Lane or the Water of Leith—in just a few minutes.

Can we hire a wedding content creator for our ceremony at St Vincent’s Chapel?

Absolutely. While we capture the high-end cinematic film and professional stills, our wedding content creator Edinburgh service is designed to provide you with the “behind-the-scenes” story. This is perfect for the narrow, charming lanes of Stockbridge, where we can document candid, vertical-format video of you wandering the cobbled streets. Best of all, this social-media-ready footage is delivered within 24 hours, so you can share the magic of your day instantly.

How do you handle the low-light conditions inside St Vincent’s Chapel?

As experienced St Vincent’s Chapel wedding photographers, we know that intimate chapels are famously challenging for many photographers due to their dim, romantic lighting. We use high-end, silent mirrorless cameras that allow us to shoot in low light without using a distracting flash during your vows. This preserves the natural, candlelit glow of the chapel while ensuring your photography and film remain crisp and clear. We pride ourselves on being unobtrusive, ensuring the focus remains on your ceremony, not our equipment.

Where should we go for our “couple portraits” after a St Vincent’s wedding?

Stockbridge is arguably the most photogenic neighbourhood in the city. Just steps from the chapel, we have access to the iconic floral doorways of Circus Lane and the riverside greenery of the Water of Leith Walkway. If you’re feeling adventurous, a short walk takes us to the fairytale setting of Dean Village. We love tailoring these mini-sessions to your personality, whether that’s a quiet moment on a stone bridge or a fun shot outside a local Stockbridge pub.

Do you offer combined photography and film packages for smaller Stockbridge weddings?

Yes, we specialise in working as a harmonious duo to provide both mediums without overwhelming your guest list. Small, intimate weddings at St Vincent’s Chapel are our speciality. By booking us together, you get a consistent visual narrative across your gallery and film, avoiding the logistical headache of coordinating two different companies in a smaller chapel space. You can view our various collection options and pricing here.

How quickly will we see our wedding photos and films?

We know the anticipation is huge! We typically deliver a “sneak peek” of your professional photos within days. Your full, meticulously edited gallery is usually ready in one to four weeks, depending on the season. If you have opted for our social media content creator add-on, you’ll have your reels and raw clips the very next day, meaning you won’t have to wait to relive the highlights with your friends and family.
