The Scotsman Hotel Wedding Photographer – See Ramita and Andrei’s Beautiful Photos

We were delighted to be trusted by Ramita and Andrei as their The Scotsman Hotel wedding photographer.

There’s something undeniably magical about a wedding in Edinburgh, particularly when it’s at a historic Edinburgh wedding venue, such as the Scotsman Hotel.

  • captured our moments beautifully

If we had to sum up our experience, it was perfect! The pictures captured our moments beautifully. We have been struggling to pick the best ones for prints, as all are brilliant, especially the Black and White. Jonathon is a pleasure to work with. Highly recommended! 🙂

The Scotsman Hotel Wedding Photos

We’re excited to share our favourite photos created by Ramita and Andrei’s Scotsman Hotel wedding photographer on their dreamy day in the city.

The city’s historic charm and modern elegance create the perfect wedding setting for your love story.

As experienced wedding photographers, we’ve had the privilege of photographing hundreds of weddings across Scotland.

Ramita and Andrei chose Edinburgh City Chambers as the iconic setting for an intimate and elegant wedding ceremony.

Ramita looked beautiful in a coral pink dress with an elegant crystal-embellished shawl.

They exchanged their ‘I do’s’ in a civil ceremony surrounded by their closest family members, all there to celebrate their love and union.

One of the best parts of a City Chambers wedding is its central location, in the heart of Edinburgh’s historic Old Town.

We took a short stroll with the newlyweds, over the Royal Mile through the Old Town, pausing for candid photos with Edinburgh’s historic charm as a backdrop—cobbled streets and traditional architecture made it the perfect setting for photographing their sweet love.

Then, we went to Princes Street Gardens, where we enjoyed their newlywed photoshoot with the majestic Edinburgh Castle towering above.

As wedding photographers, it is a dream location—the contrast between the garden’s soft romance and the castle’s dramatic presence makes every shot feel cinematic, timeless, and uniquely Edinburgh.

We loved the photos of Ramita and Andrei taken at The Mound with Edinburgh’s famous skyline in the background.

They were so natural in front of the camera and looked utterly in love as they shared a quiet embrace, a stolen kiss and even a little twirl as they soaked in the day’s excitement.

There’s an effortless beauty in how the newlyweds move, lost in their own little world, while the city hums softly around them. This makes for wedding portraits that are as unforgettable as the love story they represent.

After photographing all the sweet moments between Ramita and Andrei in the city’s heart, it was time to head to The Scotsman Hotel. This venue perfectly balances old-world luxury with modern sophistication.

Once the former home of The Scotsman newspaper, the hotel is now one of Edinburgh’s most stylish wedding venues, offering breathtaking views over the city and an atmosphere of pure romance.

Champagne in hand, the happy couple made their way to The Fettercairn Suite, where soft candlelight and a warm, intimate ambience set the tone for an unforgettable evening.

It was excellent to see the newlyweds and their guests mingle and have fun as we shot candid, relaxed photos at the Scotsman Hotel.

One of our favourite moments of Ramita and Andrei’s special day was shooting photos of them on the iconic marble staircase, the grandeur and romance, creating dreamy portraits that feel effortlessly elegant.

Stepping outside with the newlyweds for fresh air, the hotel’s entrance, beautifully decorated with lush flowers and greenery, is always an ideal spot for photos.

As our day ended, we couldn’t help but smile knowing that we had a day full of love, elegance, and unforgettable moments, a wonderful day as The Scotsman Hotel wedding photographer, where our photos will be cherished forever.

Edinburgh weddings are always special to us, but this one—set in the heart of the city in two of its most iconic venues—was truly one for the books.

We had a great time and felt so comfortable!

Jonathon and Claire are the loveliest couple… from our very first communication, they made us feel special and were so interested in who we are as people! They tailored everything just for us, and had they not radiated such beauty and kindness, we wouldn’t have even known they were there… and for two people like us who HATE getting photos taken, we had a great time and felt so comfortable!
We got married on 31st December, and they gave up their own celebrations with their families to help us capture ours…
We truly hit the jackpot, and wouldn’t ever trust anyone else to capture our special celebrations and moments!
Please don’t pass up the opportunity on having these two look after your special day! Very trustworthy and fantastic value for money.

Frequently Asked Questions: Planning Your Scotsman Hotel Wedding

Is The Scotsman Hotel a good venue for wedding photography?

The Scotsman Hotel is one of Edinburgh’s most photogenic venues, blending Edwardian glamour with Gothic architecture. As an experienced Scotsman Hotel wedding photographer, we highly recommend the iconic marble Grand Staircase and the wood-panelled Director’s Suite for dramatic, high-fashion portraits. The venue’s location on North Bridge also allows for stunning “city-chic” shots with the Edinburgh skyline as your backdrop.

How many guests can The Scotsman Hotel accommodate for a wedding?

The Scotsman Hotel is ideal for both intimate elopements and mid-sized celebrations. The Director’s Suite can host up to 40 guests for a ceremony, while the more spacious Grand Café is perfect for larger wedding breakfasts. Whether you are planning a micro-wedding or a grander affair, our wedding photography and film packages are designed to capture the unique atmosphere of this historic building.

Where are the best outdoor photo locations near The Scotsman Hotel?

Because the hotel is situated on North Bridge, you are only steps away from some of the best Edinburgh wedding photography
spots. Popular locations include the Royal Mile, the Balustrades overlooking Waverley Station, and the atmospheric closes of the Old Town. If you prefer a more traditional castle backdrop, The Balmoral Hotel and Edinburgh Castle are both within easy walking distance for additional couple portraits.

Does The Scotsman Hotel have a wedding license for civil ceremonies?

Yes, The Scotsman Hotel is fully licensed to host civil, religious, and humanist ceremonies in Scotland. Most couples choose the Garden Suite for their vows because of its beautiful setting. To see how we capture ceremonies in these historic spaces, you can browse our recent work in our wedding portfolio.

Why should we hire a specialist Scotsman Hotel wedding photographer and videographer?

The Scotsman is a unique “lighting” environment; its grand marble halls and moody wood panelling require a professional who understands how to manage indoor lighting without losing the room’s character. By hiring a combined photography and film team, you ensure a consistent aesthetic across your images and cinema, seamlessly capturing the luxury and heritage of your Edinburgh city centre wedding.
