Why We Love Photographing Weddings At Glencorse House

Shooting wedding photos at Glencorse House is a true delight for any photographer.

Nestled just outside Edinburgh in the peaceful Pentland Hills, this enchanting venue offers a blend of natural beauty and historic charm, creating the perfect canvas for breathtaking images.

The grounds of Glencorse House are a photographer’s dream.

Its stunning walled garden, dotted with vibrant blooms and ancient trees, provides endless opportunities for romantic couple portraits.

The glistening pond with a charming wooden bridge adds an extra magical touch, reflecting soft light and creating a dreamy atmosphere.

Whether it’s a golden hour or a soft, overcast day, the light works wonders for natural, glowing photos.

The venue’s intimate, private setting ensures couples feel relaxed and at ease, allowing genuine emotions to shine through in every frame.

The picturesque 17th-century Old Kirk is a gem for ceremony photos, with its rustic stone walls and atmospheric ambience adding depth and character.

Capturing the moment couples say “I do” in such a unique space is magical.

Glencorse House itself boasts elegant period features and timeless decor, offering a perfect backdrop for classic, sophisticated shots.

Whether photographing candid moments during the reception or posed family portraits, the interior exudes warmth and charm.

Beyond the aesthetics, Glencorse House has a unique, serene vibe that elevates every wedding.

Couples and their guests feel genuinely present; that energy shines through in the photos.

Every part of the day feels authentic and joyful, from romantic stolen moments to lively celebrations.

Glencorse House isn’t just a venue for photographers—it’s an experience.

Every corner of this magical setting tells a story, making it the perfect place to capture timeless, heartfelt wedding memories.

The Story Of The Day

I had already met Lauren and Wayne on a couple of occasions.

Before their wedding day, we met for a pre-wedding ‘engagement photoshoot’ at Inverleith Park in Edinburgh, a few weeks before their wedding day.

From our photo session, I knew Lauren and Wayne would be great subjects for my photographs on their wedding day – they were happy, smiley, and fun.

My day of photography began when I arrived at The Sun Inn, Lothian Bridge, Midlothian, to photograph Lauren and her beautiful bridesmaids’ preparations.

The champagne was flowing, and the excitement was building.

It’s great to see everyone excited and having fun!

Departing the Sun Inn, I drove to Glencorse House and met Wayne and the boys outside Glencorse Kirk.

This is the private church within Glencorse Estate. Few wedding venues can boast a private church!

Unfortunately, the weather was awful most of the day, but the atmosphere created by everyone present more than made up for it!

Glencorse Kirk is a beautiful wedding venue and incredibly atmospheric on a dark, wet day like this.

Lauren and Wayne are the perfect couple and couldn’t have looked happier on their wedding day at Glencorse House.

They are the perfect match in their wedding photos – relaxed, happy and without a care.

Glencorse is famous for its romantic Kirk and Outlander connections. If you are currently planning your ceremony and reception in this area, check out our ultimate Midlothian wedding venue guide for more ideas.

The perfect end to the perfect day was photographing the party on the dancefloor. The dance floor was packed with fantastic musical entertainment from the brilliant wedding band Pulse.

The perfect end to this wonderful day as the Glencorse House wedding photographer!

  • We had a great time and felt so comfortable!

Jonathon and Claire are the loviest couple… from our very first communication they made us feel special and were so interested in who we are as people! They tailored everything just for us, and had they not radiated such beauty and kindness, we wouldn’t have even known they were there… and for two people like us who HATE getting photos taken, we had a great time and felt so comfortable!
We got married on 31st December, and they gave up their own celebrations with their families to help us capture ours…
We truly hit the jackpot, and wouldn’t ever trust anyone else to capture our special celebrations and moments!
Please don’t pass up the opportunity on having these two look after your special day! Very trustworthy and fantastic value for money.
