Shooting Jodie and Jamie’s engagement photos at Yellowcraig Beach in East Lothian was the perfect opportunity for me to get to know this lovely couple a little bit before their wedding day.
I had already met Jodie and Jamie at their friends Melanie and Alan’s wedding at the Royal College Of Physicians in Edinburgh, so it was great to spend time shooting photos with them and see how they were in front of my camera.

There’s something truly special about creating engagement photos.
It’s a chance to capture a couple’s unique connection and the excitement of their journey to “I do.”
Engagement sessions are all about joy, laughter, and those little moments of intimacy that define a relationship—holding hands, a cheeky smile, or a shared laugh.
It’s also an excellent opportunity to get creative, exploring different locations, poses, and lighting that bring the couple’s story to life.
Engagement photos aren’t just pictures—they’re memories and allow couples to relive their love story for years to come.
One place that perfectly sets the stage for these magical moments is Yellowcraig Beach.
Located near North Berwick, this coastal gem is a breathtaking wedding venue and a dream for creating stunning couple portraits.
With sweeping views of the sea, golden sands, and the iconic Fidra Island lighthouse as a backdrop, it’s impossible not to be inspired.
The natural beauty of Yellowcraig creates an ethereal, romantic atmosphere that makes every photo feel timeless.
The variety of settings at Yellowcraig Beach also adds to its charm.
Couples can stroll along the dunes, with wind-blown grasses and soft light creating an effortlessly dreamy aesthetic.
For a more dramatic vibe, the rugged rocks and crashing waves provide texture and contrast, especially during golden hour when the sun casts a warm glow over the horizon.
What makes Yellowcraig genuinely magical is how it connects couples to nature.
Whether the sound of the waves, the feeling of sand beneath their feet, or the endless sky above, it evokes a sense of calm and wonder that shines through in every shot.
It’s a place where couples can feel free, relaxed, and totally themselves—perfect for capturing those genuine, heartfelt moments.
For photographers and couples alike, Yellowcraig Beach is a setting where creativity flourishes and memories are made.

It was great capturing shots of her running around!
I loved capturing photos of the couple walking hand-in-hand on the beach.
Jodie and Jamie looked so good together, and I know they will look fantastic on their wedding day.
The dunes at Yellowcraig Beach were a lovely spot for Jodie and Jamie to sit and relax. I took a few photos of them embracing and looking like they hadn’t a care in the world.
Our engagement photos session ended with a few pictures of the couple captured in the wheat field at the back of Jodie and Jamie’s home, with North Berwick Law (a famous hill landmark) in the background.
What a great engagement photography session with a lovely couple.
Since I wrote this blog post, Jodie and Jamie were married at the beautiful Carberry Tower near Musselburgh, East Lothian.
