St Anthony’s Chapel, Holyrood Park

St Anthony’s Chapel is a favourite location for couples eloping to Edinburgh and is located in Holyrood Park, adjacent to the Royal Palace of Holyrood House. This area gives you a wild, natural backdrop with the city skyline below. To be married at Holyrood Park, you must obtain permission from Historic Environment Scotland.

Arthur’s Seat

Also within Holyrood Park, you could hike up Arthur’s Seat (the very top) for a sunrise ceremony. The payoff is a 360-degree panoramic view of the city and beyond – utterly breathtaking and worth the early wake-up. However, this is for fit and adventurous couples only; the hike is steep and takes about 30-45 minutes. Also, to avoid crowds up there, sunrise is really the only time you’d get some privacy (and even then, you might have a few friendly hikers cheering you on!).
