Wedding photography at Dalhousie Castle is always a highlight of the year for us.
The majestic Dalhousie Castle was the perfect backdrop for Lauren and Dan’s union, set in the serene beauty of eleven acres of private parkland and wooded valleys.
We had a fantastic time capturing Lauren and Dan’s special day, surrounded by their close family and friends to celebrate their first year of marriage with a big party, reflect on their love and commitment to each other, exchange rings, and renew their wedding vows.

Wedding photography at Dalhousie Castle
Here are a few of our favourite images from our day shooting wedding photography at Dalhousie Castle for Lauren and Dan.
Dalhousie Castle, a magnificent 13th-century fortress near Edinburgh, is steeped in history, romance, and grandeur, making it an extraordinary Scottish wedding venue.
With over 700 years of stories woven into its stone walls, the castle has hosted kings, nobles, and dignitaries, offering couples the chance to marry in a place brimming with legacy.
Its rich history is palpable in every corner, from the medieval dungeon to the grand staircase and exquisite drawing rooms.
Set amidst 11 acres of lush woodland and gardens, Dalhousie Castle boasts a fairytale-like charm.
The castle’s stunning red sandstone exterior, paired with its picturesque surroundings, creates countless breathtaking backdrops for wedding photos.
Imagine capturing intimate moments on the castle’s grand lawn, with the ancient turrets towering behind, or in the cosy, candlelit interiors, oozing historic elegance.
Dalhousie offers several unique spaces for ceremonies and receptions, including the romantic chapel, the atmospheric stone Vaulted Dungeon for a dramatic dinner, and luxurious rooms adorned with period details.
The blend of history, natural beauty, and luxurious comfort makes this venue magical.
Every angle, from the sweeping driveway to the serene River Esk running nearby, lends itself to stunning photography.
For couples dreaming of timeless elegance and unforgettable images, Dalhousie Castle is a venue like no other.
Our wedding photography at Dalhousie Castle began with Dan’s ‘first look’ at Lauren, who looked radiant in her wedding dress.
We loved capturing their sweet, tender love and how happy they looked.
In a change from the normal arrangements of a typical wedding day, we took Lauren and Dan on their photoshoot before their ceremony, exploring the sweeping grounds of Dalhousie Castle.
These have to be some of our favourite photos. They are not posey, just natural, timeless photography that captures the beauty of their love in the serene surroundings of the castle.
Lauren and Dan’s choice of a humanist ceremony, reflecting their shared values of equality, compassion, and kindness, added a beautiful depth to their love story.
When Lauren’s entrance music, You’re My Best Friend by Queen, was played by The Arta String Quartet, we knew it would be a moving ceremony with promises of love and partnership echoed through the chapel, sealing their bond.
Afterwards, the celebration continued with a lively drinks reception. Guests mingled in the merriment, their laughter and love filling the air, creating a warm and joyous atmosphere.
An evening of joyous celebration got underway with amazing speeches from Lauren, Dan and his best man, then dining on a delicious wedding breakfast feast.
The Jiggers Ceilidh band started the party and had everyone on the dancefloor dancing the night away to their fun and lively tunes.
It was the perfect ending to a wonderful day celebrating the marriage of Lauren and Dan.
