Jake and Jonathon plotted and planned extensively in the run-up to the day, including how best to discreetly capture Jake’s marriage proposal in Edinburgh.

Jake picked the fabulous location of Calton Hill.

It’s a great spot for his marriage proposal.

This central landmark offers breathtaking panoramic views over Edinburgh.

While located just a short walk from Princes Street, you feel a million miles away from the hustle and bustle of the city centre.

Calton Hill offers plenty of opportunities to capture the wow factor photos of this momentous occasion.

The Marriage Proposal In Edinburgh

We ran through different scenarios with Jake, using Google Maps to illustrate his best position to propose to Kelly.

Jake sent a recent selfie of himself and Kelly so we knew who to look out for on the top-secret mission.

With perfect planning and a marriage proposal photographer in place, the moment arrived.

Jake went down on one knee and asked Kelly to marry him.

Discreetly taking photos at first, this was such a wonderful moment to capture.

Emotions ran high; Kelly’s reaction was complete surprise and shock.

Did she say yes to Jake’s romantic marriage proposal?

Kelly’s response was a resounding yes!

Jonathon moved in closer to catch all the love, emotion and their beaming smiles of happiness.

After the marriage proposal, we photographed Jake and his fiancée Kelly using Edinburgh Castle and Arthur’s Seat as the spectacular backdrop.

Matt and Rona – National Museum of Scotland

“We’ll dress like we’re tourists” was our advice as we discussed being Matt’s marriage proposal photographer.

The idea was to blend into the crowd and look like the average holidaymaker taking photos, enjoying the stunning view of the Edinburgh skyline from the rooftop terrace of the National Museum of Scotland, located on Chambers Street, Edinburgh.

The proposal

Jonathon and Matt had already discussed the options for discreetly photographing and filming his proposal to Rona.

A plan was hatched.

In stage one, Matt meets Jonathon in the gent’s toilet on the museum’s lower level, where Jonathon quickly fits a lapel microphone inside Matt’s jacket.

Stage one was completed, and Jonathon and I went to the rooftop terrace.

It was cold standing on the rooftop terrace that day back in September.

I can remember feeling quite nervous for a mixture of reasons.

Was I nervous for Matt?

I think so.

It was just the build-up of it all.

We had to capture Matt’s efforts, hard work, and planning coming together in one moment!

Or was I nervous the answer wouldn’t be yes?

No. It wasn’t that. It was the waiting, waiting for the action to begin.

Jonathon and I eagerly and nervously waited for Matt, Rona and her Mother to arrive.

While we waited, we pretended to take photos of Edinburgh’s Old Town skyline.

We had one chance at this.

There is only one opportunity to nail this and capture those magical images and video footage of Matt’s surprise engagement proposal.

Moments the couple will cherish forever…

Like the moment when Matt went down on one knee…

Rona was asked to be his wife…(It was perfect!)

And…

Rona said YES!!
