Introduction
Shooting Ashleigh and Matt’s Edinburgh Castle wedding photos and Balmoral Hotel reception was one of the highlights of my year. As a seasoned Scottish photographer, it’s always exciting to be back at two of Edinburgh’s best wedding venues in one day!
Beautiful bride Ashleigh and her handsome groom Matt were married at St. Margaret’s Chapel in Scotland’s top visitor attraction, Edinburgh Castle. Ashleigh and Matt then held their wedding reception nearby at Edinburgh’s luxury 5-star hotel, The Balmoral Hotel.

My coverage of this fabulous day began with photographing the latter stages of beautiful bride Ashleigh and her girls’ preparations at The Balmoral Hotel. The fizz was flowing, and the atmosphere was great, good fun to be there and to photograph the girls.
Wedding photos at Edinburgh Castle
Groom Matt is a Captain in the British Army, and where better to get married than one of the best-known British military garrisons, Edinburgh Castle?
A wonderful ceremony was held in St. Margaret’s Chapel, a tiny but exquisite chapel with approximately 22 people. St Margaret’s Chapel is one of the oldest buildings in Edinburgh, the history of the place adding to the romance of the occasion.
After the ceremony at St. Margaret’s Chapel, it’s always great to observe the newly-weds being congratulated and cheered by the ever-present tourists who visit Edinburgh Castle every day of the year. Newly-weds Ashleigh and Matt must have felt like film stars being photographed by paparazzi!
Speeches and evening reception at the Balmoral Hotel
What an exciting wedding day, ending at the Balmoral Hotel, which is only a few minutes away from Edinburgh Castle. One of Edinburgh’s 5-star luxury hotels, The Balmoral was the perfect setting for the wedding breakfast, speeches and evening celebrations. By the time I left the Balmoral Hotel, there was a live band playing, ensuring the guests would be partying into the night.
