Loren and Daniel’s pre-wedding photos session was the couple’s chance to have a photo session before getting married at the beautiful Gladsmuir Church in East Lothian.
The photos in my gallery below show Loren and Daniel during our pre-wedding photos shoot at Gosford Estate in East Lothian.
Gosford Estate is located near the village of Longniddry, East Lothian, which is about 15 minutes drive from Edinburgh.

Why have a photoshoot before the big day?
Shooting pre-wedding photos outdoors is a joyful and magical experience that sets the stage for creating beautiful memories of a couple’s big day.
Imagine golden-hour sunlight streaming through trees, a gentle breeze rippling across open fields, or the dramatic coastline providing a stunning natural backdrop.
Outdoor pre-wedding shoots offer endless creative possibilities, capturing the romance and personality of the couple in a relaxed, intimate setting.
The joy lies in the freedom of nature. Couples feel more at ease in open spaces, laughing, strolling hand in hand, or sharing quiet moments that are easy to capture authentically.
Whether it’s a forest, a beach, or a city park, the beauty of nature adds a timeless quality to the photos, enhancing the story you’re telling.
Pre-wedding shoots are also a great chance to bond with the couple.
It’s often their first time in front of your camera, so it’s a perfect opportunity to build trust and get them comfortable posing.
You can experiment with angles, lighting, and their preferred styles, ensuring they feel confident and excited about the results.
This shoot also gives you insight into their chemistry. Are they playful, romantic, or shy?
Learning their dynamic helps you prepare for their wedding day, allowing you to anticipate moments you know they’ll treasure.
For couples, pre-wedding photos become a cherished keepsake.
They’re less formal than wedding-day portraits and often capture a raw, unscripted essence of their love story.
Plus, the images can be used for invitations, slideshows, or décor.
Ultimately, an outdoor pre-wedding shoot is a magical rehearsal for the wedding day.
It’s a celebration of the couple’s journey and a chance to create heartfelt, artistic images to set the tone for the unforgettable moments.
Gosford Estate photos
I’d previously filmed a wedding at nearby Gosford House, which is located within the estate, but sadly, I didn’t have time to visit the rest of the estate while shooting that wedding.
What a great place, with a beautiful lake surrounded by woodland walkways.
Loren and Daniel’s pre-wedding photos shoot occurred on a very sunny and hot day.
Gosford Estate was a fabulous setting on such a beautiful day.
This was my first visit to this beautiful location, and I’ll certainly be returning here again in the future, both for photos and for a walk with my family.
In the two hours of our pre-wedding photos shoot, I think we only saw two other people, what a wonderfully peaceful place for a walk and taking a few photos.
Loren and Daniel were a pleasure to photograph.
I know they’ll be great on their wedding day, needing very little direction from me.
A bonus of doing a photo session before the big day is that you receive all of the images from our shoot along with your wedding photos.
We supply the photos to you in colour and black and white, the perfect memento of your days before you are married.
**Since these photos were created, Loren and Daniel have been married on the most memorable of occasions, a real highlight of the year.
