Norton House Hotel wedding venue – a romantic setting for your Scottish wedding.

Norton House Hotel wedding venue impresses from the moment you spot the gatehouse marking out its entrance from the main road. Norton House Hotel, Ingliston, Edinburgh, EH28 8LX, boasts its own tree-lined drive which leads to the grand hotel itself. We always appreciate the setting this hotel is lucky to be nestled in, as it provides some exciting opportunities for taking a wide array of newlywed photographs.

The venue also provides a versatile range of main rooms that are licensed for weddings and civil partnerships. If you are searching for a comfortable, relaxed, and enjoyable occasion in attractive surroundings Norton House Hotel wedding venue can tick all those boxes for you.

More than 150 years of history

The main building was constructed in 1840, although we know little about the first four decades or so of its life. However, we do know John Usher – from the family that gave its name to the historic Ushers beer brand in Scotland – purchased the property in 1883. We can thank the Usher family for the beautiful Renaissance porch that is still a key site at the location today.

Early in the 20th century, the estate was enlarged, but it would not be until the Fifties that the house would be transformed into a hotel. In subsequent years, it has become a popular choice for a wedding venue just minutes out to the west of Edinburgh. Much of the history of this countryside estate has made this wedding venue the charming and welcoming place it is today. Most rooms had preserved some, if not all, the original features the building had when it was built.

The Garden Suite

The Garden Suite offers a purpose-built modern alternative to the main building, complete with its own Victorian walled garden area and private terrace. It can comfortably accommodate 130 people for the ceremony and the same number for the wedding breakfast. Up to 160 people are welcome for an evening reception.

Large windows rise from the floor to meet the ceiling, flooding the room with light no matter what the weather decides to do. An attractive location for a wedding, providing all manner of photographic opportunities to capture memories of your special day.

For smaller weddings or events, the Garden Suite can be split into two smaller rooms with a bespoke partition that cleverly divides the larger room onto two smaller rooms. Your wedding ceremony can take place in one of the rooms, with the celebration moving next door where your meal can be served and your party can continue. The two smaller rooms are called ‘Meadow’ and ‘Orchard’.

The Ballroom

This room resides within the main building, accommodating 140 people for the ceremony and 200 for the reception. It benefits from high ceilings finished with stunning brass chandeliers. The private bar adjacent to the Ballroom makes the evening celebrations accessible to move onto, as will the dance floor. A charming and spacious location for a fabulous wedding or civil partnership to begin.

The Verandah

Those searching for a more intimate location to enjoy a romantic wedding will appreciate the size of the Verandah. Its neutral décor makes it the perfect choice for any wedding theme, while views onto the surrounding gardens can also be enjoyed by all.

The Verandah is ideal for smaller ceremonies with up to 40 guests. Dining arrangements can be made for the same number, with an increased guest list reaching 70 for the evening reception if required.

The Patio

If you are looking for a quiet, beautiful, and refined room in which to say your vows and celebrate with friends and family at your wedding breakfast, look no further than the Patio. Ideal for ceremonies where guests are limited to 40 or less, the Patio offers panelled walls, beautiful views out onto the grounds from the bay window, chandeliers, and many other original features.

Couples with wedding breakfast plans for no more than 30 guests will find the Patio well-suited to their requirements.

Beautiful Gardens

The gardens at Norton House Hotel change with the seasons, as you would expect them to. Yet with every passing season that we photograph couples at the hotel, we appreciate how charming the surroundings are. There are seating areas to be discovered too – ideal for those intimate shots once the ceremony is complete. At your wedding, we’ll ensure we advantage of the beautiful established gardens to create fantastic newlywed photos you will cherish forever.

If you are thinking of getting married at the Norton House Hotel wedding venue, do contact us today to tell us of your plans. We would love to have the opportunity to tell the story of your wedding day.

What a fantastic wedding photographer we couldn’t have asked for more. All of our pictures turned out beautifully and even though I was running rather late Jonathon ensured that we got all the shots that were important to us as well as many more.

Tiffany and William – Norton House Hotel Garden SuiteTiffany and William – Norton House Hotel Garden SuiteI would not hesitate to recommend him to friends, family or anyone as we are extremely happy with the service

My husband and I were lucky enough to have Jon as a very good friend, so when we got engaged, there was no question as to who we would use as our photographer. Although a friend, he was still extremely professional with us from start to finish – discussing our options with packages, albums, group photos etc. On the day itself, Jon turned up well dressed in plenty of time and was very good at putting people at ease, melting into the background and capturing some truly stunning shots. A lot of the photos were captured without people being aware – these are fantastically natural and a great memento of the day. Although I know very little about cameras, I know that his have produced shots of the highest quality and he has a very good eye as to what will make a good shot. We now have a beautiful Italian cream leather bound album with thick metallic pages filled with fantastic photos as a result. I would not hesitate to recommend him to friends, family or anyone as we are extremely happy with the service and the results of his hard work.
