Jonathon and Claire are the loviest couple.. from our very first communication they made us feel special and were so interested in who we are as people! They tailored everything just for us, and had they not radiated such beauty and kindness, we wouldn’t have even known they were there… and for two people like us who HATE getting photos taken, we had a great time and felt so comfortable!

We got married on 31st December, and they gave up their own celebrations with their families to help us capture ours...

We truly hit the jackpot, and wouldn’t ever trust anyone else to capture our special celebrations and moments!

Please don’t pass up the opportunity on having these two look after your special day! Very trustworthy and fantastic value for money.

Ghillie Dhu Wedding Photos

Alex and Asten were a pleasure to photograph, and I’m delighted to share a selection of my favourite Ghillie Dhu wedding photos here.

My day as Ghillie Dhu wedding photographer started by heading to Salon Sixty One hair salon at Goldenacre.

Asten and the girls enjoyed a glass of bubbly while their hair and makeup were done.

The girls were relaxed and looking forward to the rest of the day.

After a while, I departed for beautiful Ghillie Dhu, in Edinburgh city centre.

Shooting Ghillie Dhu wedding photos in Edinburgh is an absolute joy.

This enchanting wedding venue is full of character, offering a magical blend of historic charm and atmospheric lighting.

Nestled in the heart of Edinburgh, the Ghillie Dhu’s Grade-A listed building boasts elegant stonework, soaring vaulted ceilings, and intricate details that create a truly romantic setting for couples.

The venue’s warm, ambient lighting and candlelit spaces bring every moment an intimate, fairytale-like quality.

Capturing stunning photos in such an iconic venue requires skill and experience.

While beautifully atmospheric, the Ghillie Dhu’s low-light environment can challenge photographers unfamiliar with such conditions.

An experienced wedding photographer understands how to use available light creatively, balancing the warm tones of the venue with the correct camera settings and equipment.

Mastering techniques like off-camera flash and natural light blending ensures every photo is crisp, emotive, and accurate to the venue’s ambience.

Winter weddings at the Ghillie Dhu also allow for breathtaking outdoor photos, with Edinburgh’s dramatic skyline and festive atmosphere adding an extra magic touch.

An expert photographer will know how to embrace the season’s moody skies and glowing interiors to create timeless images.

At a venue as unique as the Ghillie Dhu, experience is key to capturing your big day’s romance, emotion, and beauty.

Groom Alex and the guys were in good form, relaxed and cracking jokes.

I took a few Ghillie Dhu wedding photos outdoors and at the bar area while waiting for the families and guests to arrive.

The bridesmaids looked beautiful in their matching mauve dresses, assisted in their duties by the cutest wee flower girl.

Asten arrived in style in a Mercedes limousine. Her dad and the girls escorted Asten into Ghillie Dhu’s beautiful Auditorium.

The civil wedding ceremony was good fun to photograph. Alex and Asten looked so happy as the celebrant congratulated the new Mr and Mrs.

I was delighted that the weather was ideal for shooting photos outdoors.

A few family group photos followed by a short walk across Princes Street Gardens for a selection of newlywed photos.

On such a sunny day, it was inevitable that the gardens would be busy with tourists.

Well-wishers constantly congratulated Alex and Asten as I created a range of natural photos.

Alex and Asten look so happy in the photos. They were brilliant to photograph and needed minimal prompting or guidance from me.

The rest of this beautiful day was spent back at Ghillie Dhu.

It is always great to photograph the speeches, with lots of emotions on display here, with laughter, tears and sincere thank-yous to capture.

The evening celebration began with Alex and Asten cutting their magnificent wedding cake.

I should say the wedding ‘cakes’, as there were three different cakes! All painstakingly crafted by hand and looking almost too good to eat!

I ended my day as Alex and Asten’s Ghillie Dhu wedding photographer by shooting photos of the first few dances in the auditorium.
