Jonathon did a fantastic job with our photos and video. He captured the day perfectly! We got a video of the ceremony, speeches and first 3 dances which Jonathon was able to do himself with cameras set up and it was amazing to see after. I highly recommend Love Wedding Photos and Film and will use them in the future for any photographer needs I have.

Jonathon recently photographed our wedding and we couldn't be happier with the results. Our families were also extremely pleased and have been creating montages and framing the photos. Jonathon put us at ease and was professional and friendly and created lots of shots in such a short space of time. The communication before hand and after was great especially as there was last minute changes to our wedding. I would definitely recommend. Many thanks.

Dalmahoy Hotel Wedding Photos

We’ve covered many fantastic events at this fabulous venue, so below we’ve shared a few of our favourite images created by us as Dalmahoy Hotel wedding photographer.

History of the Dalmahoy Hotel

Golf course and grounds - newlyweds by their classic car - Dalmahoy Hotel wedding photography

The sprawling parkland gives the effect of being almost in the middle of nowhere.

This is a true retreat – easy to access, offering beauty from every angle, yet convenient and practical for wedding guests and the happy couple.

Thanks to its charm and appeal, we always appreciate the opportunity to film and photograph newlyweds at this location.

The more times we’ve been Dalmahoy Hotel wedding photographers, the more we realise how perfect this venue is for your dream wedding.

Steeped in a generous slice of dramatic history, the manor house you see today dates to the 1720s and was designed by Scottish architect and mason William Adam.

While initially built for the Earl of Stair’s youngest offspring, it passed into the hands of the Douglas family in 1760.

Even today, a descendant of the Douglas family owns the glorious Estate.

It is said that none other than Mary Queen of Scots visited Dalmahoy.

Two of the Douglas brothers played roles in freeing her from her imprisonment at Loch Leven Castle.

Indeed, William Douglas freed her before throwing the keys to Loch Leven Castle into Loch Leven.

Some years later, in the 19th century, the keys were discovered upon draining the loch.

Those keys are now on the Dalmahoy Estate – a tangible connection to this dramatic link in the past.

Architect William Adam could hardly have imagined Dalmahoy would later be reinvented as a country club, as it was in 1976.

Further redevelopment has occurred in subsequent years, yet always with a considerate eye to the past and the history of this stunning baronial manor house.

This beautiful, self-contained location has 215 rooms and suites on-site, 1,000 acres of parkland, two golf courses, and much more.

It provides everything you could ever want for a memorable wedding.

Bedrooms and suites

Dalmahoy Hotel offers a range of different room types.

Classic Rooms for two are modern and stylish, Period Rooms are influenced by Scottish history and choose from seven spacious suites which are the ideal place to get ready for your wedding.

All the rooms include comfortable beds, a Smart TV, free Wi-Fi and coffee and tea-making facilities.

Dalmahoy Suite

When working as a Dalmahoy Hotel wedding photographer, we’ve always been impressed by this stunning and versatile suite.

It includes a dance floor and numerous partitions that can be moved around to suit your needs according to the size of your wedding party.

As such, smaller parties of 50 or so guests will enjoy a smaller space than parties of up to 250 guests. Yet, in each case, the suite size will be appropriate for your requirements.

This convenient feature of the suite makes it a popular choice for many couples, as does the private bar included within the suite.

The open-plan nature of the room also means all your guests will be able to see the top table.

The Boardroom

Say your vows inside the beautiful manor house itself by hiring the Boardroom.

Boasting attractive period features, chandeliers, and amazing views, the Boardroom is the perfect choice for those who want a smaller celebration.

A ceremony and wedding breakfast will be held in this stunning room, accommodating 50 guests.

Lothian Room

Another beautiful option within the original manor house, the Lothian Room, offers further period features to set the tone for an intimate and small celebration.

Large windows allow lots of light into the room, accentuating features including the stunning fireplace – the focal point of the Lothian Room.

Couples may invite up to 50 guests for their big day in this room.

Castle Room

Many couples keep their wedding or civil partnership celebrations to their closest friends and family members.

A wedding at the Dalmahoy Hotel allows guests to enjoy the building’s beauty and history without renting a large room.

The Castle Room is the ideal setting for such a celebration.

A maximum of 16 guests can be accommodated here.

Dalmahoy Golf Course and Gardens

The staircase at the rear of the house is a dream setting for a Dalmahoy Hotel wedding photographer, perfect for a group photo of family and friends and newlywed photos.

The manor house’s architecture, both inside and out, is impressive, as is the surrounding parkland.

The views guarantee an incredible array of opportunities for taking newlywed photos.

The backdrops of the golf course, the lake, the surrounding area, and the views across West Lothian inspire us as Dalmahoy Hotel wedding photographers to create memorable images of our newlyweds.

Dalmahoy Hotel is a popular setting in West Lothian for couples about to get married or enter a civil partnership.

However, many golfers travel for miles to test their skills on two championship golf courses set on the hotel’s grounds.

The East Course is laid out to exacting championship standards.

Meanwhile, the West Course offers a further challenge with a smaller layout.

Thanks to the enviable location, golfers would be forgiven for taking their eyes off the ball to soak in glorious views from the fairways.

The golf courses and parklands surrounding the historic manor house offer views of the Forth Bridge, Edinburgh Castle, and more.

The staff at the hotel are always on hand to assist throughout your day.

Our advice as experienced Dalmahoy Hotel wedding photographers is to take photos near the lake, offering some of the best views of the manor house.

The staff usually transports the newlyweds and us as your photographer or videographer in one of Dalmahoy’s golf buggies.

It’s always good fun whizzing along in one of these alternative ‘wedding cars’!
