Borthwick Castle Wedding Photographer 5-Star Reviews

As your Borthwick Castle wedding photographer, we promise to create fabulous photos of you on your wedding day, but don’t just take our word for it:

Jonathon and Claire are the loviest couple.. from our very first communication they made us feel special and were so interested in who we are as people! They tailored everything just for us, and had they not radiated such beauty and kindness, we wouldn’t have even known they were there… and for two people like us who HATE getting photos taken, we had a great time and felt so comfortable!

We got married on 31st December, and they gave up their own celebrations with their families to help us capture ours...

We truly hit the jackpot, and wouldn’t ever trust anyone else to capture our special celebrations and moments!

Please don’t pass up the opportunity on having these two look after your special day! Very trustworthy and fantastic value for money.

We are delighted to share some of our favourite photos from their magical day.

History of Borthwick Castle

Borthwick Castle is steeped in history. Constructed in 1430 by Nobleman Sir William de Borthwick, this magnificent fortress was once home to Mary Queen of Scots and survived bombardment by Oliver Cromwell’s army in 1650.

You can see the damage sustained during the siege, with cannonballs heavily gouging the east wall!

Exclusively yours… that is the promise made by the team offering wedding services at Borthwick Castle.

If the idea of getting married in a Scottish castle truly appeals to you, you’ll be delighted to hear you’ll have the entire castle to enjoy on your wedding day.

The castle’s versatility lets you choose the type of ceremony and setting you desire.

The most beautiful rooms are all licensed for Humanist, religious and civil ceremonies.

Couples who wish to take advantage of the stunning setting and interior of the castle but wish to have a church ceremony will be delighted to hear that Borthwick Church is adjacent to the castle gates.

The wedding team at the castle is always accommodating and is happy to make the arrangements for booking a wedding at the church, followed by celebrations at the castle.

Rooms at Borthwick Castle

Great Hall

Undoubtedly the finest feature of the building, and our favourite room as Borthwick Castle wedding photographer, the Great Hall is perfect for larger celebrations.

Benefiting from a high curved ceiling, your wedding party can enjoy a banquet they will never forget.

The Great Hall is large yet welcoming, with décor that complements all styles of weddings.

From finger food to the traditional medieval banquet others once enjoyed over the centuries, the Great Hall is the signature location for a classic castle wedding reception.

Garrison

Step inside the Garrison, and you will feel like you have stepped back in time.

This is the perfect location for a wedding fit for royalty. Humanist, civil, and religious ceremonies are allowed here, and we’ve had the pleasure of being Borthwick Castle wedding photographer and videographers in this room on many occasions.

Arranging your ceremony here will delight you since the Garrison offers dramatic features and historical significance.

It is a fantastic room for every couple’s dream wedding.

State Room

The State Room offers the most elegant décor, suitably chosen to enhance the centuries-old features of the castle and its stone walls.

Imagine sitting by the roaring log fire, enjoying a single malt whisky, or playing the grand piano after enjoying afternoon tea.

It is the perfect counterpoint to the larger Great Hall, proving that intimacy and romance are possible within this magnificent castle.

Relax In Luxurious Surroundings

There is nothing more convenient than getting married in beautiful surroundings and then being able to stay overnight at the same location.

If you’ve never stayed in a castle overnight, what better night to choose than your wedding night?

Borthwick Castle boasts ten luxury bedrooms, each very different from the others.

This allows you to select the one that appeals most.

Of course, the remaining bedrooms will also be available for members of the wedding party to book, should this be required.

The grounds also include Crookston Cottage, suitable for four more guests.

The castle is renowned for its Scottish hospitality, which you can sample firsthand if you choose to get married here.

The atmosphere, the food and drink, the Scottish breakfast enjoyed the morning after by the newlyweds and the other guests choosing to stay overnight… it all combines to produce memories you will never forget. As your Borthwick Castle wedding photographer, we’ll capture those memories forever!

The chefs are also known for providing a sumptuous feast to suit your desires, no matter what kind of wedding reception you have in mind.

Whether you choose canapes, a barbecue in the better months, or their signature medieval feast, you’re in for a treat.

After the reception, there will be ample time to explore the castle and take photos in many of the delightful and atmospheric settings it can provide.

The tree-lined approach to the castle delivers a shady starting point, perfect for newly-wed photos while imagining how Mary Queen of Scots herself would have arrived.

The castle’s position atop a knoll means we can fully utilise spectacular views as a backdrop for some truly memorable wedding photos.

Whatever the weather, Borthwick Castle is the perfect setting for a wedding and for the photographs that will enable you to recall the most romantic moments for years to come.

Battlements, turrets, history, and style… Borthwick Castle has it all.

Don’t hesitate to contact us to discuss the possibility of being your Borthwick Castle wedding photographer in this most special Scottish venue.
