The rooms’ natural light and spacious nature make them ideal for pre-wedding reportage shooting, capturing every element of your preparations.
The Long Gallery
The Long Gallery is one of Balbirnie’s most central rooms, sitting in the heart of the original Grade A listed Georgian house. This room is striking for ceremonies, with beautiful architectural balance combining arches and a vaulted ceiling. Natural light floods in from the beautiful lunette windows. Holding up to 100 guests, this is an intimate ceremony venue whatever the season. At Christmas time, you get the added wow factor of a splendidly decorated tree.
The Orangery
The Orangery is the Millennium addition that blends holistically with the Main House while incorporating original features. It adds a truly modern feel to a historical setting. The incredible mirrored tinted-glass ceiling combines the floor-to-ceiling Georgian-Style windows to bathe the room in tranquil light.

The Gardens are an unmissable part of any wedding at Balbirnie. The Ballroom
is a magnificent place rich with elegance and allure. Included in your use of the Ballroom, you can also use the Ballroom Gardens, Ballroom Bar, Ballroom Lobby and Lobby Terrace. Your ceremony can be held here: you can seat up to 180 for the wedding breakfast and extend your numbers up to 250 for the evening.
The Ballroom is a stunning room for photos, whatever the time of day, but it comes to life after dark with the impressive and enchanting granite-style black dance floor embedded with twinkling light, a truly magnificent setting for a first dance. The floor is complemented by further colour-changing lights enabling you to bring an entirely different feel between your daytime and evening celebrations.
While Balbirnie offers a range of rooms to suit the style and size of your wedding, if you choose to have your ceremony off-site, you’re spoilt for choice: The picturesque Markinch Village church is just a five-minute drive.
