Being a photographer shooting couple photos in Edinburgh is an absolute joy, and no two shoots are ever the same.

One of the most magical settings for creating genuinely breathtaking and unique couple photos in Edinburgh is Calton Hill.

Perched in the city’s heart, it offers unbeatable panoramic views that instantly elevate any shoot.

Picture this: the couple stands hand-in-hand against the backdrop of Edinburgh’s skyline, with the castle, Arthur’s Seat, and the distant waters of the Firth of Forth all in view.

The golden hour light on Calton Hill creates a warm, ethereal glow that’s every photographer’s dream.

What makes Calton Hill so unique is its mix of natural beauty and iconic structures.

The striking Dugald Stewart Monument, the unfinished National Monument (often nicknamed “Edinburgh’s Folly”), and the Nelson Monument provide dramatic and romantic settings for photos.

Calton Hill is the perfect blend of romance, history, and adventure—everything you need for stunning, heartfelt photos.

Sumana and Vel were on the Scottish leg of their round-the-world holiday of a lifetime holiday.

They wanted a collection of professionally taken photos of them together in Edinburgh.

This lovely couple travelled from Southern India to Scotland for a holiday.

Fortunately, the weather wasn’t too bad for our photo shoot, but nowhere near as warm as their hometown in India!

Edinburgh is a fabulous city to visit and explore.

Edinburgh is world-famous for its history and architecture, and its excellent range of places and locations offer truly unique backdrops for couple photography.

This is an excellent place for a photo shoot, offering some of the best views of Edinburgh.

It’s also a great place to ‘get your bearings’ if you’re new to the city.

I love the view of Edinburgh Castle and Arthur’s Seat, and I always incorporate these historic landmarks as a backdrop during my photo shoots on Calton Hill.

No wonder this location is a favourite place for shooting fabulous couple photos.

The most recognisable feature of Calton Hill is the National Monument, created as a memorial to those killed during the Napoleonic war.

Although the monument was never completed, it’s still an impressive structure, which I like to incorporate into my photos.
