Today we had the pleasure of filming Fiona and Stuart’s brilliant Edinburgh Napier University Craighouse wedding. Yesterday was pouring rain. Today we were delighted to wake up to a beautiful sunny day. Clear blue skies. Not a cloud in sight. Perfect weather for filming the perfect wedding day!
We were booked to cover the whole wedding day. This meant filming from the preparations in the morning until the dancing in the evening. So our day began with a short trip to The Bruntsfield Hotel in Edinburgh. The girls were being pampered at The Bruntsfield Hotel. Beautiful Fiona and her girls were getting their hair and make-up done. Most importantly, there was plenty of champagne for everyone! There was a great atmosphere when we entered the room. For this part of the wedding video, we like to capture the little but important details which make each wedding unique. Fiona’s beautiful wedding dress was draped from the four-poster bed. This allowed us to film full length and close up shots of the dress. We also placed the bridal shoes on the floor and filmed close up, detailed shots of these. Importantly, we filmed little details such as the flowers, the jewellery, the makeup being applied and the hair is done. There’s so much to film when you’re with the girls!
Once we’d filmed all the preparation shots we needed we departed to Edinburgh Napier Craighouse to film the groom and guests arriving. This is a brilliant exclusive-use wedding venue which features the exquisite Turmeau Hall. This grand space is where the wedding breakfast and evening celebrations take place. A really beautiful Edinburgh wedding venue in which it is a joy to film.
Groom Stuart looked great in his kilt. He was very calm and relaxed. Of course, this had nothing to do with the whisky flowing from the hip flasks!
Fiona and Stuart were married in a romantic civil wedding ceremony. This was followed by newly-wed photos taken around the grounds of Napier Craighouse Campus. What a beautiful location for wedding photography. Gorgeous, warm autumnal colours were everywhere. After their newly-wed photos were taken, the newly-weds mingled with their guests and enjoyed a glass of champagne. We loved Fiona and Stuart’s 3-D wedding cake. This brilliant creation was covered with lots of white chocolate triangles. It looked delicious!
It was good fun filming the receiving line, capturing the laughter and fun. Afterwards, the newly-weds were cheered into the room to excited applause. The grand Turmeau Hall at Napier was the setting for the wedding breakfast and speeches.
The evening celebrations continued in Turmeau Hall at Napier. The excellent live wedding band The Strides provided the entertainment. We filmed the first few dances. One camera filmed the band, with the other camera filming the dancing.
This really was the perfect wedding day. It was great to be back at Craighouse Napier University Wedding Venue. Congratulations to Fiona and Stuart. You were a joy to film!
Bridal Party Preparations
Presented here is the first chapter of Fiona and Stuart’s wedding video. We prefer the newly-weds choose the music used when editing a wedding film, with a little guidance from us. This makes the edit far more personal, just the way our clients like it.
