Being a wedding photographer in Edinburgh city centre means lots of varied locations for photos and, on this occasion, torrential rain to contend with! Inclement weather could cause a headache for the inexperienced or nervous wedding photographer. I had no qualms when meeting Lauren and Laurie at Lothian Road for their Edinburgh city centre photo shoot.
Being a photographer in Edinburgh means being spoilt for choice when it comes to choosing a location for shooting wedding photos in Edinburgh city centre. After filming a wedding in beautiful sunshine all day on Saturday, it was disappointing that the weather was wet all day on Sunday. No worries though as the cloud cover meant beautiful, even, natural light for today’s photo shoot.
This wedding photography session began outside the magnificent Usher Hall. The entrance to the Usher Hall provided some shelter from the rain and made a beautiful backdrop for a few photos.
To keep the photos interesting and varied we visited a few locations around Edinburgh city centre. Next stop was the entrance to West Register House in Charlotte Square. This beautiful Georgian building is the perfect location for shooting stunning wedding photos, regardless of the weather! Tourists on a passing tour bus enjoyed watching our photoshoot and took a few photos of their own!
From Charlotte Square, we made the short journey to Stockbridge. The Water Of Leith runs through Stockbridge. Here, we took advantage of the shelter provided by St Bernard’s Bridge. The cloud cover continued to contribute to gorgeous natural and soft light, with no flash used when shooting any of today’s photos.
The rain eventually relented a little, so we walked over to St Bernard’s Well to capture a few more photos. By the time we finished our photoshoot Lauren’s dress was looking a little worse for wear, however, the photos we captured are just stunning.
We might not have had the driest weather in Scotland. In fact, I would say this summer has been one of the wettest I can remember! Often a city-centre wedding venue might not offer many options for shooting beautiful wedding photos. Edinburgh’s public spaces offer so many wonderful locations to shoot beautiful wedding photos, regardless of the weather. As a wedding photographer in Edinburgh city centre I’m lucky to be spoilt for choice! A small and intimate wedding venue, unusual location or inclement weather doesn’t mean you can’t have stunning wedding photos!
A massive thank you to Lauren and Laurie, these guys were just awesome to work with and good fun to photograph.
